Bandits kill 17 in Benue, kidnap worshippers in Kaduna

    By April 25, 2021No Comments2 Mins Read

    By Our Reporter

No fewer than 17 persons have been confirmed dead and many others injured after suspected militia herdsmen attacked Benue communities on Saturday.

Ikengaonline gathered that the heavily armed men attacked Tse-Ayeli village, Tse-Gborigyo and Udam in Mbayer-Yandev in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The hoodlums shot sporadically in the affected areas which led to the death of 17 persons.

Four dead bodies were reportedly recovered from Tse-Gborgyo, one from Tse-Ayeli and three from Udam, totalling eight, both in the Mbayer community.

Also, many people sustained various degrees of injuries from the attack while scores are missing.

This comes barely two weeks after the bodies of 11 soldiers killed in the Bonta community of Konshisha Local Government Area of the State by unknown gunmen were found.

In a related development, at least one worshipper was shot dead on Sunday after suspected bandits invaded a church in Chukun Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

Details of the incident which happened during a church service in the area are still sketchy but Ikengaonline gathered that some worshippers were abducted while others sustained injuries.

Recall that Chukun has been under siege by bandits and all efforts to secure residents have not yielded results.

Just on Friday, the remains of three students of Greenfield University, a private institution in Chukun LGA were found three days after their abduction.

Gunmen had on Tuesday night abducted many students after killing the security guard in the school.
