No fewer than 33 coalition of support groups in the People Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed Sen. Uche Ekwunife ahead of the primaries of the party.
The primaries is to choose the flag-bearer of the PDP in the November gubernatorial election in the state.
The Coordinator of the groups, Mr Victor Kalu, said this on Wednesday in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu.
Kalu said that the coalition arrived at the decision after understudying all the gubernatorial aspirants of the party.
He said that they examined their commitments to human empowerment and community development, after which Ekwunife came tops.
He said that the forthcoming gubernatorial election would be a clear opportunity for the party to take over the state if Ekwunife filed the party’s flag.
“We can only achieve this by presenting a visionary candidate that can ensure the party’s overwhelming victory at the polls.
“Ekwunife is a grassroots politician, community developer and accessible,” he said.
Kalu said that the party could not afford to make mistakes as that could whittle down its chances of winning in the election.
“It is our considered view that Ekwunife represents a new vision and mission for Anambra State, one that is predicated on our shared values for enduring democracy and good governance.
“Ekwunife exemplifies the new vision amd purposeful leadership that Ndi Anambra crave for at this critical period,” he said.
Some of the groups in the coalition are PDP National Youth Reap Organized, PDP South East Youths leaders Forum, PDP Youths Amnassadors Network,
Wadata Women for Better Nigeria amongst others.
