The Federal Government has reiterated and clarified its stance on the resignation of public office holders seeking elective positions in the 2023 general elections.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha in a circular dated May 11, 2022, listed the affected persons to include members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Others are Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, Agencies, Parastatals of Government, ambassadors and other political office holders.
The affected persons were given up to May 16, 2022, to resign from their respective positions.
Meanwhile, Ikengaonline reports that the list of heads of public institutions to which the SGF directed the circular included the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had during the June 11 FEC meeting, directed ministers who have expressed their interests to seek elective positions in the 2023 general elections to resign.
