Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial aspirant for Enugu West Senatorial District, Sen. Ben-Collins Ndu, says he is committed to bringing even development in the zone.
Ndu disclosed this while declaring his aspiration to return to the Senate 20 years after he left the Red Chambers.
Recall that Ndu had a brief stint in the senate that lasted for one year, 10 months about 19 years ago.
However, the aspirant, who was addressing delegates from the zone, said that he was poised to reclaim the position which he lost to the incumbent, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu after the 2003 general election.
The senator said that he would use his experience to ensure even development in his senatorial district as well as ensure that all natural resources in the area were harnessed.
“I want to assure you that I will not be a back-bencher in the Red Chambers. I know how to harness all the mineral resources in the five Local Government Areas in the zone,” he said.
Ndu said that he would ensure a good synergy with other senators from the state for the benefit of their people.
He said that he had liberated Enugu West Senatorial Zone from the stranglehold of a few politicians, adding that the area would, henceforth, breath a fresh air.
“I have the capacity, the political will, and the exposure to perform and create employment for our people. I, therefore, call on all party members to support me,” Ndu said.
Earlier, the Chairmen of the PDP in the five Local Government Areas of Aninri, Awgu, Ezeagu, Oji River and Udi, in their separate speeches told the aspirant that their allegiance lay with the state Governor.
For instance, the PDP Chairman in Awgu Local Government Area, Mr Chijekwu Nebo, said that they were waiting for Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to make a pronouncement on who would represent the zone in the senate.
He said that though there were other aspirants from the zone but once the pronouncement favoured Ndu, he would have their full support during the senatorial primaries.
