Former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, has joined Labour Party from the ruling party in Anambra State.
Umeh’s move to Labour was barely six days after his failure to pick the APGA senatorial ticket for Anambra Central after he was defeated in the primary by a serving member of the House of Representatives representing Dunikofia/ Njikoka/ Anaocha Federal Constituency, Honourable Ferdinard Dozie Nwankwo.
Reliable sources said that Umeh has emerged the candidate of the Labour Party for Anambra Central senatorial zone for 2023 general elections.
One of the sources said the primary election of the Labour Party is going on in Asaba, Delta State, where the former Senator is standing unopposed for the ticket.
Primaries of LP for other senatorial zones are also taking place at various venues in the state.
Umeh will slug it out with Senator Uche Ekwunife of PDP, Dozie Nwankwo of APGA and Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of APC in the main election next year.
