Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri
The court of Appeal sitting in Owerri on Tuesday ordered the unsealing of Owerri branches of Zenith banks, which were last Thursday sealed off by the National Industrial Court in Owerri, by a garnishee order to pay the Ex-deputy governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, his entitlements alleged to be over N1.9 billion.
Justice Rita Pemu granted the reliefs sought by the state government by its counsel, I. I Nwachukwu, as well as listening to the submissions by the Madumere’s counsel, L.M Njemanze.
The two reliefs sought by the state government were for the stay of execution and to enable the state government to appeal the judgment of the National Industrial Court in Owerri, which had earlier given the judgment on the garnishee order that sealed off the affected bank.
The matter was adjourned till June 30.
