Former Anambra State Governor, and the 2023 presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, has finally opened up on why he visited Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Obi visited Wike on Wednesday in his private residence in Port Harcourt where the duo met for hours behind closed doors, thus fuelling rumours that Wike who lost the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP might be plotting to dump the ‘Big Umbrella.’
Wike is also believed to be habouring grievances against the PDP for also denying him the Vice-presidential ticket considering his tremendous support to the party.
On why he visited Wike, Obi said he went to “discuss national issues” with the vocal Rivers State Governor.
Obi who took to his Twitter handle wrote: “Earlier today, I visited Port Harcourt, to confer with H.E. @GovWike on vital issues of national interest.”
Wike had accused his fellow PDP Southern Governors of sabotaging his presidential bid.
He equally expressed disappointment over the party’s violation of the rules during the presidential primaries, saying that but for his love for the PDP, he would have responded in a manner that would have scuttled the primaries.
