Just as Ikengaonline had reported, the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has finally unveiled Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, as his running mate for the 2023 poll.
This has laid to rest, weeks of speculations and consultations on the matter.
It has also formally ended the controversial negotiations on a possible joint ticket with Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
The unveiling of Baba-Ahmed which took place in Abuja on Friday, came less than 24 hours after the withdrawal of Doyin Okupe, who had earlier occupied the position in holding capacity.
Ikengaonline gathered that Baba-Ahmed enjoys the followership of progressive Northern youths who see him as a beacon of hope for the new generation.
He is known for being vocal against corruption having in 2007, dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to court over the conduct of past elections.
Baba-Ahmed, a former member of the senate, is the founder and Pro–Chancellor of Baze University, an independent university located in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The university began operations in April 2011.
