Member representing Orumba South and North Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, has disclosed the main reason he decamped from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to later join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon Ezenwankwo, earlier this year around April, announced his defection to PDP after he was said to have had a stint at the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he joined after he failed to win APGA primary ticket for the November 6, 2021, governorship election in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra State, recently, Hon Ezenwankwo said his decision to dump the ruling party in the state was to connect self to the affairs at the federal level.
He said: “Today, I am in PDP and by the special Grace of God I am the candidate of PDP in Orumba North/South Federal constituency and I think I made a right choice by joining PDP.
“Election is not about party. Party is just like a vehicle and I so much believed that if you are going to Lagos and you join a vehicle from Onitsha, maybe on the way, the vehicle stopped you in Benin. You join another vehicle to your destination.
“What matters most is your destination not vehicle. PDP is a National Party, as far as I am concerned, and APGA is there in Anambra State and I was in APGA before.
“When you talk of National Assembly, you talk of APC and PDP. APGA is a minority Party which I tested and have seen. So, I had to move with a party that I am sure will hook me to the national, either direct minority party or ruling party. And that was the reason why I left. It is not that APGA is not a good party. I have to hook myself to the mainstream of the affairs of the country.”
Explaining the National Assembly’s ultimatum to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari, Ezenwankwo who will be contesting for his return to the green chamber disclosed that the NASS issued the ultimatum to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari if he fails to address the issue of insecurity in the country.
According to him, “The National Assembly is currently on recess and would reconvene by September when they will deliberate on the ultimatum given to President Buhari.
“Security of life and property is a serious thing. It is the responsibility of government to secure it’s citizens. If president Buhari is not ready to bring security challenges to an end, we are ready to remove him but if the President and his lieutenants bring down insecurity, we will withdraw the impeachment move.”
