Umuahia the Abia State capital was completely locked down Tuesday as the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, makes an appearance in Abuja Court.
The streets were virtually empty as motorists and commuters kept their distance from the roads.
When Ikengaonline went round some of the streets, it was observed that the city was calm and peaceful.
Apart from occasional movement of few vehicles perhaps on essential duties, the roads within the capital city were totally dry.
IPOB had declared a total lockdown of the South-East in solidarity with Kanu who has been held by the Federal Authorities since June 2021.
The banks did not open for business while markets in the city were also shut down.
There was no incident of any confrontation between security agencies and any persons at the time of filing this report.
