Igbo youths have demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, over a statement credited to him that Peter Obi is planning to fake his own assassination.
The youths who spoke under the auspices of Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, said that the unguarded statement was a confirmation that APC was planning to eliminate the Labour Party presidential candidate.
COSEYL in a statement by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, said that Keyamo and APC would be held responsible should any harm befall Obi.
The statement made available to Ikengaonline read :”It is regrettable that such vile and unprofessional statement will come from a supposed lawyer who should know better about the effect and import of his statement and actions in public.
“Without mincing words, Keyamo unknown to him has just told Nigerians about the secret evil plans of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to assassinate Mr Peter Obi because of his acceptability to Nigerians.
“Nigerians have been deceived enough by the APC and cannot be deceived again by the likes of Keyamo and his party.
“We call on the Inspector General of Police, the Department of State Security, DSS, and other security agencies to immediately arrest Keyamo for being part of the plan to assassinate Mr. Peter Obi who has done nothing wrong other than to present himself to vie for the office of the Nigerian President come 2023.
“APC is planning evil against Obi and they must be investigated immediately and thoroughly to stop our nation from sliding into anarchy.
“Keyamo and his co-travelers in this wicked plot must be arrested to tell us what they know about the plot to assassinate Mr Peter Obi.”
“We warn the All Progressives Congress, APC, and all political actors who feel threatened over the candidacy of Mr Peter Obi to be careful in other not to incur the wrath of the Nigerian youths.
“The last thing that Nigeria needs now is anything that will throw the nation into more violence, insecurity and anarchy. The APC should throw away her evil plans of assassinating Obi if the want the nation to survive.
“We want to remind the likes of Keyamo that Peter Obi’s antecedent speaks volumes of him as a man of truth who is not desperate over occupying any political office but a man with passion to serve humanity in his own little way.
“We call on Keyamo to know that if Muhammadu Buhari faked his assassination attempt in 2014 in other to whip up sympathy to himself, Peter Obi cannot reduce himself that low.”
