The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Friday, filed 14 grounds of appeal at the Appeal Court Abuja against the judgment of the National Industrial Court which order it to call of the seven-month strike.
ASUU also applied for a stay of execution of the NIC judgment which it had earlier rejected.
The appeal was filed by ASUU’s legal team led by Femi Falana, SAN.
Justice Polycarp Hamman of the NIC, had in a judgement last Wednesday, ordered the university lecturers to return to the classroom, pending the determination of a suit the Federal Government filed to challenge the legality of their strike action.
The Industrial Court held that the strike action was injurious to public university students that could not afford to attend private tertiary institutions.
