Soludo being truthful about unknown gunmen – Igbo youths

    Lawrence Nwimo, Awka

Youths under the aegis of Igbo Youths for Positive Change, have replied the comments directed at Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, from the Ohanaeze Youth Council over his recent comments on the activities of gunmen in the state.

The state had witnessed successive attacks by gunmen and it was only few weeks ago that the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Ifeanyi Ubah, escaped assassination after his convoy was attacked in the state.

Following this, the governor in his recent comment, said that all unknown gunmen terrorising the state were Igbo.

Ikengaonline gathered that the comment did not go down well with Ohanaeze Youth leader, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, who reportedly tackled Soludo for such a blanket conclusion.

In a statement to journalists in Awka, on Tuesday, the National President of Igbo Youths for Positive Change, Chinedu Obigwe, described Igboayaka’s attack on Soludo on the issue as mere busybody.

He stated that Soludo’s comment on the matter was a frank talk. Obigwe said the Anambra State governor was not cut out for being economical with the truth.

He said, “One thing with Governor Soludo is that he is a character that does not fake; he says his mind on any issue without minding whose ox is gored.

“The last thing Governor Soludo will do is to be economical with the truth especially when the issue involved has to do with the security of lives and property of ndi Anambra. The so-called Comrade Igboayaka that parades himself as the President of Ohanaeze Youth Council is desperately looking for cheap popularity.

“He (Igboayaka) is obviously suffering from chronic diarrhea of the mouth hence his reason for delving into a matter he knows nothing about.”

Obigwe said Soludo’s comment during his appearance on Channels television about the unknown gunmen terrorising as Igbo was based on the verifiable and authenticated information at his disposal.

Obigwe added, “He( Soludo) spoke the truth and that truth is that all those caught in Anambra State that masqueraded to be unknown gunmen were Igbo. So what igboayaka and his cohorts expected Governor Soludo to do is to lie to the general public by claiming that the unknown gunmen terrorising Anambra State are not igbo? Nobody solves a problem with lies. You can only solve a problem by revealing the truth.

“It’s obvious that Igboayaka is among the sympathisers of the unknown gunmen that are now being dealt with by security agents because that is why he resorted to attacking Governor Soludo for disclosing to the general public that many of those masquerading to be unknown gunmen caught by security agents are igbo.”

Obigwe warned Igboayaka to stop using the platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council to politicise the fight against insecurity in Anambra and Igboland at large, calling on elders of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation to call him ( Igboayaka) to order.

He added, “When the heartless unknown gunmen were beheading people and terrorising the whole Anambra State, Igboayaka maintained sealed lips but now that Governor Soludo is winning the battle against insecurity and hitting the nail right on its head by disclosing the identities of those masquerading to be unknown gunmen, Igboayaka emerged from nowhere to be criticising him for saying the truth.

“As long as the good people of Anambra State are concerned, Governor Soludo is on the right track and they will continue to support his administration’s commendable efforts in securing the state.”
