Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has vowed to fish out those responsible for the Wednesday killing of soldiers in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.
The soldiers were reportedly ambushed by gunmen along the Umunze-Owerre-Ezukala Road close to the ever-busy Zenith Bank axis of the popular Nkwo Umunze market in the town.
Unconfirmed reports said about five persons including soldiers were shot dead in the brutal attack, while the military patrol Siena bus was riddled with bullets.
In a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Aburime, Professor Soludo condemned the attack and described it as “wicked” and “cruel.”
The statement read: “Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has strongly condemned the killing of soldiers who were ambushed on a routine patrol at Umunze by yet to be identified gunmen in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
“We condemn this wicked and cruel attack in the strongest terms. The perpetrators of this act must pay. We are not going to rest on our oars, including those people that attacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and the rest. There will be absolutely no hiding place for them,” Governor Soludo vowed.
“Going forward, our actions will show, as these people must surely pay for this heinous and repulsive attack,” Governor Soludo further stressed.
The Governor therefore urged the people to remain calm and law abiding, noting that the security agencies are on top of the situation.
