There is fear and apprehension in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State as unknown gunmen attacked a military patrol team on duty in the area.
A gory video which has gone viral in different social media platforms said the security personnel were on patrol when they were attacked by gunmen.
Sources said the incident happened around the ever-busy Zenith Bank axis of the town.
According to the source, “five soldiers and one other person was killed in the attack.
“The incident happened around 1pm Wednesday. The soldiers, were moving in a Sienna vehicle, when they were attacked by the hoodlums.
When contacted the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident.
Though Ikenga failed to disclose the exact number of casualties, he said there were shootings close to Zenith Bank in Umunze
He said the details had not been received, adding that the incident happened between 12-1.30pm.
