As more reactions continue, to trail last Thursday’s Court of Appeal judgement discharging and acquitting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (Okwadike Igboukwu), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, not to appeal the judgment but simply comply by directing the immediate release of the Biafra agitator.
The Igbo Leader and elder statesman who spoke on Arise Television live interview, said he was willing to prostrate before President Buhari “if that will make him to release Kanu.”
He said: “If President Buhari wants me to kneel down, I will kneel down. If he wants me to prostrate, I’ll prostrate just for Nnamdi Kanu to be released. Going to Supreme Court is a waste of time. Everyone in Nigeria is looking for a new Nigeria.”
The octogenarian noted that the release of Kanu in line with the court judgment as well as UN Opinion, would tremendously crash the rising tension and insecurity in the South-East zone.
Ezeife who is also a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, hinted that the President General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Professor George Obiozor “is making another plan to send another delegation of Igbo elders to visit Buhari on Kanu’s issue.”
He said that Igbo leaders were ready to further engage President Buhari on possible political solutions to Kanu’s matter.
Ezeife advised the Federal Government against flouting its own laws which, he noted, is a dangerous precedent.
