The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State has been rocked by crises as, Hon. Uche Ugwueze-led Executive has passed a vote-of-no-confidence on the Council Chairman, Barrister Obiora Obeagu.
A chieftain of the party who spoke to Ikengaonline in confidence said the party Chairman and 11 PDP Ward chairmen accused the Council chairman of high handedness and absolute neglect to the plight of the party.
“The party leaders also accused the Mayor of allegedly stealing and looting the Council dry with impunity.
“They said the Mayor was the worst chairman of the council since it’s creation and that, he has no respect for anyone even those who put him on the seat,” he said.
The source further disclosed that the disagreement came to near physical battle at a recent meeting of stakeholders of the party at Neke.
According to the source: “A serious altercation ensued during a recent stakeholders meeting between the Mayor and Ugwueze and Neke Ward 1 Chairman who spoke on behalf of the 11 Ward Chairmen.
“At this point, the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Austine Nnamani, who is also from Isi-Uzo, directed that the meeting be suspended as tempers were flying high and the men were about going physical against each other,” he said.
Ikengaonline gathered that, efforts by Hon. Jideofor Ebeh, Enugu State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry; Amb. Dr Kingsley Ebenyi, former Member House of Representatives; and Prof. Sam Ugwu to reconcile the matter proved abortive.
