Member representing Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon Chris Azubugo, says the immediate past administration in Anambra State is responsible for the deplorable condition of roads in the state especially the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
Azubugo made the allegation while fielding questions from journalist at Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka, during the Monthly Congress of the Union.
The lawmaker said the condition of roads in the state is deplorable, and accused the immediate past administration of diverting the money mapped out for the reconstruction of Amawbia/Amansea end of the Federal Road.
He said the past government under Willie Obiano chose to use the money to construct the bridges at Amawbia/Kwata and Arroma Junction, and refused to utilize it for its purpose which, he said, could have gone a long way in addressing the poor state of the highway.
He said: “The money was released and I was one of those who worked so hard in ensuring that the money was refunded. I went to Fashola, he told me that the road had been done and delivered. The money was not used for the purpose which it was released.”
Speaking further, the three-time House of Representatives member blamed the current inflation, insecurity, hunger and other challenges confronting citizens in the country on failure of leadership.
He urged the poor masses to unite and take back their country from their oppressors and those he said bequeathed maladministration and hardship to them.
