Ben Ezechime, Enugu

The Enugu State Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, has said that, if he becomes governor of the state in 2023, he will reconstruct the Ikem-Ehamufu Road linking Benue State.

He made the promise at Ikem, headquarters of Isi Uzo Local Government Area, during his ward to ward campaign in Ikem ward 1 and 11.

Edeoga said he had graded the road before alongside Neke-Ehandiagu-Ehalumona road when he was the Chairman of Isi Uzo, adding that, if elected, this would be part of his efforts to open up the area and reduce insecurity.

“I am promising you today that, if I become governor, by the grace of God, I will reconstruct the Ikem-Ehamufu Road linking Benue State.

“I graded that road when I was the local government chairman; but this time I will reconstruct it as part of efforts to curb insecurity along that axis,” he said.

He told them he would be transparent and govern with the fear of God, just the way he did years ago when he was chairman.

“Edeoga remains the Edeoga you know; I have not changed. You don’t need a lamp or torchlight to look at Edeoga even in the night, I remain the same. If you vote for me, you will not regret doing that,” he said.

He blamed the recurring killing of farmers in their farms by suspected Fulani herders on lack of political will by successive administrations in the state to do the right thing.

The LP candidate appealed to the people to cooperate with the security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace, law and order in Ehamufu and environs.

Edeoga told the people to shun money politics this time around as it will no longer count.

“For many years now, they have been giving you N200, 2 cups of rice and cubes of Maggi, all those things can no longer work, just make sure you have your voter card and come out on the voting day to cast you vote,” he said.
