Ben Nwoye, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has said that his purported suspension from the party by the Ugo Agballah-led State Executive is null, void and of no effect.

He said this during a press briefing held in Enugu in reaction to the suspension slammed on him and other notable members of the party in the state by Ugo Agballah.

The APC state chairman had suspended Nwoye and his Independent Campaign Council (ICC), as well as former Senate President, Sen Ken Nnamani and others, at a press briefing held on Wednesday.

Ugo Agballah accused them of participating in the endorsement of an opposition gubernatorial candidate, Mr Peter Mbah of the PDP, in a recent rally in Enugu.

But in his reaction, Nwoye said the action of Ugo Agballah was aimed at truncating the chances of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He accused Ugo Agballah of working for another presidential candidate while doing everything possible to ensure that Tinubu does not win in Enugu.

“Ugo Agballah is working against Tunubu presidency. The ICC, of which I am the Enugu State Coordinator was formed by the APC presidential candidate himself and as I speak we have our presence in all the electoral wards in the state.

“He was imposed on Enugu State chapter of APC by the former National Secretary of the party, Akpanudoedehe and as I speak, he is working for the ‘Obidients.’

“He has caused many of our big party members to join the ‘Obidients’ while he ensured that BAT does not win in Enugu State.

“He has dismembered the APC in Enugu State, many members of the APC family in the state have moved to Labour Party,” he said.

The erstwhile APC chair also accused the National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu of refusal to act on several petitions against Agballah by the party members in Enugu State.

“The National Secretariat of APC is keeping quiet and if no action is taken, albeit urgently, it will rob us.

“He has received several petitions from our party bigwigs in Enugu State without bothering to act on them. Today, I challenge him to intervene in what is happening in the chapter,” he said.

He called on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to beam their searchlight on Agballah, alleging that he had begun  recruiting thugs to attack members of ICC during their meetings.

“I am alerting the security now because Ugo Agballah is currently recruiting thugs ready to attack the ICC members,” he said.

He also alleged that the Gubernatorial candidate of the party, Uche Nnaji, was a political outsider and intruder, who joined the party through the backdoor.
