Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has pleaded with media practitioners in the state to report professionally, the 2023 general election.
Uzodimma stated this Tuesday in Owerri, at the training workshop for journalists in Imo State held at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council, tagged “Upgrading Strategic Communication Competencies in the Digital Era.”
Uzodimma who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said the training was to sharpen and upgrade the skills of journalists in the state for digital reporting.
The governor said: “The training would afford the participants the skills and knowledge for accurate reporting and effective media service delivery.
“We task journalists in the state on professionalism: the profession requires the practitioner’s prudence, discipline, intellectual competence and of good conduct in their daily assignments.”
Emelumba added that “the Governor has approved the continuous sponsorship of the training workshop annually.”
In his remark, the Imo state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ifeanyi Nwaguma, said “the training would also help prepare the journalists to report the outcomes of the coming general election and other happenings in the state creditably and professionally.
“The theme of this workshop, Upgrading Strategic Communication, Competence, in the Digital Era is germane as we work within the 21st century characterised by Information and Communication Technology ( ICT).”
