A Catholic Priest, Rev. Dr Chibe Offor has described the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, as a democratic model that Nigeria needs for a national rebirth.

Offor said this at the launch of his Book entitled “Obicracy” in Enugu.

He said that the LP candidate represents the dream of a new Nigeria, adding that his emergence as President would bring succour to Nigerians.

“I see the man Peter Obi as a credible instrument God will use to change Nigeria,” he said.

Offor said that Obi was the hope of the present and future generation, saying that with the current hardship facing the people his emergence will wipe away the tears of Nigerians.

He said that he was motivated to write the book based on his study of the character and personality of Mr Peter Obi.

He said: “Life is becoming harder and harder for Nigerians. Life has become meaningless for Nigerians and I, as a priest of the most High, cannot stand by and watch things going wrong in our society.

“I see the man Peter Obi as a credible instrument God will use to change Nigeria. He represents a new Nigeria, a new hope a fresh breath to the present and future generations.

“I went into the study of his past,  his utterances, his words, his philosophy and then came out with the book Obicracy to document his words and actions and to tell the world the dimensions this man is going.”

Offor said that if Obi eventually emerges winner of February 25 election, he will remind him of all that he had said during campaigns.

“If Obi eventually becomes the President of Nigeria the book will follow him, to remind him, this is the principle you have propounded this is the word that is coming from your mouth.

“It is meant to give a direction to the new kind of government that he is championing,” he said.

The clergy insisted that the church has a lot of stake in politics because the church is part of the society.

“You cannot separate church and politics. Church believes in society; politics is about leadership; there is leadership in the church; the church as I know is meant to be the conscience of politicians.

“The church is supposed to be the voice of God, the church is supposed to be the director of what happens in the society. So I have done the work of the church for the society.

Obicracy is all about morale principles. Obicracy is an act of bringing the work of God into politics” he said.
