Tricycle operators and youths from different organisations in Abia Central including Ohangwa Youths Association, have endorsed the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo, as their consensus candidate for the February 25 senatorial contest.
The youths who stormed the Umuahia residence of the lawmaker, said they were highly impressed by his performances at the House of Representatives, and had no doubts he would effectively represent the zone at the Senate.
Speaking on behalf of others, Chairman of Oha Ngwa Youths Association, Comrade Livinus Chisom, said they had closely monitored the activities of the House Committee Chairman on Climate Change, and found him competent to move to the upper legislative chamber.
The youth leader specifically commended Onuigbo for his spirited efforts towards rehabilitation of Umuahia- Ikot Ekpene federal road.
He expressed confidence that if elected into the Senate, Onuigbo would replicate his feats and laudable achievements at the lower chamber.
Similarly, the state chairman Abia State Drivers Welfare, Pastor Henry Okezie, said members of his union decided to endorse Onuigbo because of his integrity and doggedness.
He said other politicians had approached the unions for their support but they declined, waiting patiently for the adjudication on the rightful candidate of APC in the district, a case recently decided in favour of Onuigbo at the Supreme Court.
Responding, Onuigbo expressed gratitude to the youth groups and the unions for their support, saying he is amazed by the show of love.
He promised not to disappoint them if elected to the Senate.
