Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and the State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appear to have backed out of the G-5 governors.
In a letter obtained by Ikengaonline, the state Chairman of the party, Mr Ikeje Asogwa, has directed members of the party in the state to mobilise supporters for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during his presidential rally billed for Tuesday at Michael Okpara Square Enugu.
The directive reads: “Good day Our unshakable Super Supporters.
“This is to invite you all to the Enugu State PDP Presidential Campaign Rally on Tuesday 14th February, 2023 at Michael Okpara Square by 10am.
“Transportation allowance will be paid at the venue by the Monitoring Committee upon confirmation of the number of your members present.
“Thanks and remain blessed always, Ide Ikeje Asogwa, Director General, PDP Campaign Organisation, Enugu State.”
Ikengaonline reports that Ugwuanyi has been a staunch member of the G-5 PDP governors fighting for the removal of Dr Iyorcha Ayu as national chairman as a condition for supporting its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
