Governor Nasir el-rufai, has ordered Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Kaduna State to continue to transact with both old and new N500 and N1000 currency notes.
This was contained in a statement issued Sunday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye.
The Governor directed that agencies in the state should allow old and new naira notes to circulate simultaneously in line with the order of the Supreme Court.
According to the statement, no agency should reject any payment made with the old currency notes.
The statement posted on the Governor’s verified Tweeter handle read in part: “In line with the subsisting order of the Supreme Court, the Kaduna State Government has directed its Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure that their collection agents continue to accept payments made in all denominations of the naira, old and new.”
el – Rufai, had earlier in a statewide broadcast, Thursday, urged Kaduna residents to keep using the old currency notes despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on the policy.
