The Abia State governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Gregory Ibe, has challenged security agencies in the state particularly the police to fish out those behind the gruesome killing of three innocent staff of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, by suspected cultists in Aba.
Professor Ibe who described the murder as callous and atrocious demanded probe into the heinous crime.
Three ASEPA workers were, over the weekend, gruesomely murdered at Samek area of Fauks Road Aba by suspected cultists.
Condemning the dastardly act in a statement by the Director Media and Publicity of his Campaign Council, Rev. Sleek Ogwo, the APGA governorship hopeful demanded an end to senseless killings of innocent Abians by gunmen.
“The indiscriminate killing of Abians must stop forthwith, as I call on the Commissioner of Police to immediately commence investigations in order to unravel the people behind the recent killing of three Abians in Aba,” the statement read.
Stressing that the security of Abia citizens must remain the prime responsibility of Government,
Professor Ibe challenged the State Government to rise to its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.
He urged the Abia State Police Command to leave no stone unturned in a bid to bring to book perpetrators of the Aba mayhem.
Professor Ibe consoled with the families of the victims of the attack, and urged Government to rise to its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.
“While commiserating with the families of the slain Abians, I urge the Abia State Police Command to rise up to the occasion by smoking out the hoodlums behind this wicked act.
“It is common knowledge that the security of lives and property remain the prime task of Government, I therefore call on agents of Abia State Government to restore the confidence of citizens by ensuring the enactment and execution of laws and policies that will guarantee a safe environment.”
The APGA governorship candidate assured Abians of a well developed plan as contained in his comprehensive blueprint to leverage his privileged background in safety management to rejig the security architecture of Abia State if elected governor in the forthcoming poll.
He appealed to Abians and residents of the state to restrain from violence and criminality which he said served no good purpose.
