Governor David Umahi had voted at his Umunwofo, Umunaga ward 10, polling unit 013, Ụbụrụ, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Governor arrived at the polling unit at about 12:13pm and proceeded to the polling booth to cast his vote after being accredited by INEC officials using the BVAs machine.
His wife, Rachel and first son, Osbourne, who also came with him also voted.
Speaking to Journalists after voting, Governor Umahi expressed satisfaction at the process so far.
He commended INEC for doing a very good job and expressed confidence that the election will be free and fair.
The governor also commended security agencies in the State for providing adequate security that has led to high turnout of voters.
He however urged them not to relax as miscreants and hoodlums may still try to unleash mayhem towards the end of the election period.
Meanwhile, voting commenced in some polling units in Abakaliki metropolis, capital of Ebonyi State as early as 8am.
Our correspondent who monitored proceedings at the polling units reports that voters turned out as early as 7am while electoral officers and materials arrived promptly at around 8am.
At St Peter’s Station Urban polling unit 002, voters started casting their votes at around 9am.
At Abakaliki Township Stadium, a long queue of voters had already gathered and awaiting the electoral officers at 8am.
Voting started at the polling unit following the arrival of election officer at around 9am.
