Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has lost his bid to go to the Senate after his eight years tenure as governor.
In the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday February 25, 2023, Ugwuanyi contesting on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost to Barrister Okechukwu Ezea of Labour Party (LP).
According to the result announced by the returning officer for Enugu North Senatorial zone, Prof. Chukwuebuka Ubaka, Mr Ezea scored 101, 430, while Ugwuanyi scored 48, 316 to come a distant second.
Labour Party also won the three House of Representatives seats in the zone.
Mr Mark Obeta defeated former State Chairman of the PDP, Engr Vita Abbah, to win Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency, while Mr Dennis Agbo defeated the incumbent Representative of Igboeze North/Udenu, Mr Simon Atigwe.
Also, Mr Stainless Nwodo of LP defeated the incumbent Dr Martins to clinch the Igboetiti/Uzouwani Federal Constituency.
In Enugu West Senatorial zone, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Engr. Osita Ngwu defeated Mr Oguerinwa Amadi of Labour Party to clinch the seat.
