The Campaign Council of the Abia State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Greg Ibe, has again, dismissed as a ruse and ridiculous, reports that he  is battling critical health challenge.

According to a statement made available to Ikengaonline by the Director, Media and Publicity of the Council, Rev. Sleek Ogwo, the said fake media report is a deliberate ploy by the anti-democratic forces which see Ibe as their only threat to blackmail him before Abia voters.

It urged members of the public to discountenance the said imaginary report.

“Claims by the ridiculous report that Prof Greg Ibe is  said to be battling critical health challenges is a deceptive fabrication deployed as a means of introducing doubts in the minds of Abians, with the ultimate aim of discouraging them from voting for him,” the statement read.

“Prof Ibe is not battling any critical health challenge as wrongly insinuated by the fifth columnist but currently recovering from a leg surgery,” it added.

The statement  also explained that contrary to claims by the report,  Professor Ibe’s candidacy was not in any controversy.

“Prof Ibe’s candidacy has since been doubly reaffirmed by two appellate court judgments which respectively ruled in his favour.

“As an indication of the absence of dispute in the Abia APGA governorship contest, Prof Ibe’s name is currently listed on the INEC portal as guber candidate for the 11th March 2023 election.”

The statement said that despite “these obvious diabolical machinations currently being orchestrated and executed by the Pharaohs of Abia, all in a bid to scuttle the well articulated plan by our principal to take our people to a New Abia, Prof Ibe remains focused and determined to sacrificially work for the liberation and transformation of Abia State into a land of limitless possibilities.”

It urged Abians to  ignore “these antics by benefactors of our common patrimony, who in their purpose intent to maintain an evil stranglehold on Abia treasure, device all manner of ploys to attempt to discourage well intended individuals like our principal from participating in the act governance.”
