There is anger, disbelief and frustration in Enugu State over the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President-Elect in the just concluded Presidential election in Nigeria.

Ikengaonline reporter sampled the opinion of many residents who expressed shock and sadness over INEC’s action.

A civil servant, Mr John Nwokocha, told Ikengaonline that, he was yet to believe that, Mr Peter Obi had lost the election.

“I am in a state of shock. I woke up this morning to see the news on the television and it left me speechless.

“How did it happen that Obi lost this election; it is a conspiracy at the highest level,” he said.

Also speaking, Mrs Maureen Njoku said she was completely devastated and confused when she heard the news on a Radio station.

“So, no Easterner can rule this country again. How did they do it. I thought they will give it to an Igboman this time. This is bad,” she said.

Engr Cyril Omeke, a Civil Engineer also said he was shocked to hear that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate was declared winner of the election.

“It really sounded surprising to me because the Constitution says the supposed winner must win FCT. How then did they interpret the Constitution to declare APC winner?

“APC did not get the required 25 per cent in the FCT and couldn’t have been declared winner,” he said.

Omeke described the whole exercise as a sham, adding that it ridiculed the integrity of Nigeria and “cast doubt over our  democratic credentials.”

“It is also a bleak period for an average Igboman,” he said.

It would be recalled that the INEC had announced Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the election having certified him as scoring the highest number of votes cast.
