The Apex Igbo cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo says it rejects in its entirety, the results of February 25, presidential election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Alex Ogbonnia, National Publicity Secretary of the body said this while reacting to the outcome of the polls and subsequent declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as President-Elect.
He said: “Our people, that is, the Southern and Middle Belt Forum, we are not comfortable with the results. The presidential candidate of LP has also condemned the results.
“The election was characterised with all forms of rigging and electoral malpractices of all kinds.
“A kind of electoral malpractice that had never been recorded in the history of Nigerian election.”
The Ohanaeze spokesperson said that INEC had used technology in its worst form, whereby results from Sokoto are uploaded in Imo State, and results from Lagos State are found in Sokoto and vice versa.
“INEC has put technology in its worst form. So it is unacceptable. The LP candidate has stated it clearly that, it’s unacceptable,” he said.
According to him, the election did not meet the standard for free, fair and credible election as the electoral umpire boggled the use of technology driven process.
He, however, said that, both the Southern and Middle Belt forum were waiting for Mr Peter Obi on the next line of action.
“Obi is experienced in this kind of game. He had faced similar situation in Anambra State whereby his mandate was stolen, he asked his supporters to keep calm and he later recovered his mandate.
“He has called for calm and we are waiting,” Ogbonnia said.
