The Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led Anambra State Government has debunked reports that non-indigenes particularly Ebonyians resident in the state were asked to leave the state following the death of a 72 year old woman.

The State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, debunked the news, Wednesday, while reacting to the death of the septuagenarian, whose organs were harvested in the state.

Ikengaonline had reported the week before that the deceased was attacked by a suspect identified as Onyebuchi Ezeh from Ebonyi State at her residence in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area, where her nipples, private part, lips and fingers were cut off by her attackers, believed to be for money ritual.

The victim was rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka, where she was receiving treatment, but later died as a result of injuries sustained.

Following her death, over 3,000 women from the community took to the streets, in protest, demanding justice for the septuagenarian.

The commissioner expressed sadness over the death of the 72-year-old woman and vowed to use everything within her office to bring justice to the deceased.

She also urged everyone, especially the women in Umunze, to give the court some time to follow the law and make its judgment.

She explained that she would not relent until other fleeing suspects involved in the dastardly act were apprehended and arraigned before the special court in Awka.

Referring to the non-indigenes in the state, the commissioner said: “If you must reside in the state, you must abide by the order or go to another state as Anambra Government will not condone any act that will distort the peaceful relationship of its citizens.”
