The ongoing Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Enugu State has been characterised by voter intimidation, harassment, ballot box snatching and others.

Reports say that in many parts of the state there were incidents of party agents intimidating voters by forcing them to vote for some particular candidates, especially in the Enugu metropolis.

In Ugbawka area of Enugu East Senatorial zone, Ikengaonline learnt that a particular party made sure that only those voting for the party were allowed into the voting arena.

In many parts of Enugu metropolis, there were alleged operations of fake policemen parading the polling units ensuring that a particular party had its way unmolested.

Reports also indicate that there were massive vote buying in parts of Nsukka area, especially in Igbo-etiti Local Government Area.

In Isi Uzo, thugs numbering 15 were apprehended by the military-led joint security patrol on duty acting on a tip-off.

Reports say that the thugs were intercepted in company of the LGA chairman and are currently being interrogated.

A similar incident was also reported in Awgu axis where thugs allegedly sent by the chairman attempted to disrupt proceedings but were intercepted by the joint security.

Earlier in the day, Arch Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of Enugu Anglican Diocese raised the alarm over the presence of fake policemen in Enugu.

Also, a Journalist who went to one of the polling units in Obiagu area of Enugu to observe the election was harassed by a thug and his mobile phone was seized.

It took the intervention of soldiers to retrieve the phone.
