For the second time, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has again suspended the collation of results of last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
A statement from the headquarter of INEC in Abuja signed by Mr Festus Okoye, Commissioner, Information and Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) said the collation of the controversial results of Nsukka LGA and Nkanu East be suspended while they look into the complaints.
The statement said the commission was looking into the merits and demerits of the cases by political parties and would convey it’s decisions in due course.
The intervention by the INEC headquarter has doused the tension generated earlier in the morning around the commission’s office.
It would be recalled that supporters of the Labour Party (LP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) besieged the INEC office in protest for and against.
Meanwhile, the situation in the state remains tensed.
