Mothers told to partner God for fruitful, prosperous home, society
Lawrence Nwimo, Awka
Mothers all over the world have been told to partner God in building a sound christian home and society full of prosperity and fruitful upbringing.
Venerable Ekenedilichukwu Nwafor, the Vicar at the Church of the Pentecost Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion gave the charge during the Mothering Sunday Service on Sunday.
The cleric who is also the Archdeacon Awka Central archdeaconry, admonished mothers to live an upright and exemplary life that will enthrone peace, unity and oneness in their homes and the society at large.
In his homily entitled: “God’s Purpose For Marriage: Godly seeds and Godly Children,” Ven Nwafor stressed that “companionship and raising Godly children are the two fundamental reasons for marriage”.
He advised that to raise Godly seeds, parents must endeavor to love God and live the kind of lifestyle that is loving and acceptable to Him.
He said: “God is the maker of our home, therefore he expects from us David’s kind of seed. God demands from us a Godly seed and the nature of seed you sow has a say in what you should expect as your harvest.
“When you labour over your children and raise them in a Godly way, you will not regret, instead you will be proud to talk about them as your sons and daughters.
“We need to raise our children in the fear of God. Parents should have a target in the life of their children and not raising them just for raising sake.
“God gave you the children to raise for him. That means you have to partner Him in the process. It takes vision, focus, determination, patience and integrity, to succeed in the project.
“Again, your destiny is your arrow. For you to possess your arrow, you have to work with God. Unless God builds a house, the builder builds in vain. For you to eat the fruit of your labour, you must work with God.
Speaking on leaving God’s inheritance to children, the cleric decried that many individuals are suffering today because of the lifestyle of their parents. “Any sin committed as a youth or as an adult will visit you at your time of harvest. Remember the story of Rehab and Jazeebel. Do not make God to be angry with you or your offspring.
“The most important heritage we can gift to our children is not college, not professional certificate or material inheritance, but Godly inheritance and how to love God. That is why the lifestyle you live will determine what your children will emulate from you.”
Earlier in an address, President Mother’s Union, Women Guild and Girl’s Guide Province of the Niger, Diocese of Awka, Dr (Mrs) Chioma Ibezim, called on mothers to live life of honour and prestige.
Speaking on the theme of the 2023 Mothering Sunday: “You Will Eat The Fruit of Your Labour,” Mrs Ibezim, the wife of Archbishop Alexander Ibezim, admonished mothers to be prayerful in their homes. She reassured the mothers that they will not labour in vain but that their children will be sources of joy to them.
Similarly the Vicar’s wife, Chinwe Nwafor while thanking God for his faithfulness reminded mothers to live a life filled with purity, plainness, integrity and filial love to be able to facilitate change in the society starting from the family.
