The Chairman of Presidential Campaign Council for Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State, Mr Emeka Mamah, has challenged Judges involved in the 2023 election cases to maintain high profile image of the Judiciary by being objective while delivering judgments in election cases before them.
Mamah said this at the weekend when he received an award of “Excellence” from the South East Media Forum in Enugu.
“I want to appeal to them, they are the last hope of the common man.
“They should look at this cases on their merits and give judgment to the people that truly deserve it.
“Don’t look at money; they should not look at faces of people; they should take into consideration the people that voted for the people they believed in, people they trust that can deliver dividends of democracy for them.
“People they truly want to be their leaders. That’s my only prayer for the Judges and I am confident that God will hear my prayers,” he said.
He said that Nigerians have suffered enough and should be allowed to choose the kind of leaders they want.
“The last election witnessed all manner of electoral malpractices including massive rigging, thuggery, shootings and all forms of manipulations,” he said.
Mamah said it was ridiculous to hear the ruling party both at the Federal and state levels accusing the opposition of manipulations when the reverse was the case.
According to him, Nigerians were now looking up to the Judiciary as their last hope; so, I urge them to be upright while delivering judgments.
The businessman turned politician further said that he did not expect his appointment as the PCC chairman in the state but thanked God that it turned out a huge success.
“It was an assignment that I least expected. I didn’t see it coming but, I thank God it was a huge success, delivering almost a hundred per cent success for Obi in Enugu State.
“Delivering the highest number of votes for him in Enugu State and winning two senate seats as well as seven House of Representatives seats out of eight.
“So, I am very grateful first to God and all of those who worked with me to make it possible,” he said.
