The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali, has promoted the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abia State, Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
Ogbonnia was decorated with his new rank along six other newly-promoted officers from the Command at the Officers Mess Umuahia.
Those promoted include three Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP); three promoted from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police, (CSP); and one officer promoted from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, commended the Abia State Command for its diligence and professionalism during the just-concluded general elections.
The IGP who was represented by the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed Bala, noted with delight that no personnel of the Command was found wanting in the course of the election duties.
Speaking in his capacity, CP Bala attributed the success recorded in the Command to “proper planning,” which he said “helped us to prevent poor performance.”
He described the 2023 elections as “peaceful and credible,” assuring that the command will continue to do more.
The police boss advised the newly promoted officers to reciprocate their promotion with more dedication to duty.
“Promotion has been given as morale booster. Put in more efforts and re-double your efforts to ensure the protection of the citizenry.
“You also have your family and job integrity to protect,” he said.
Responding on behalf of other newly promoted officers, ACP Kingsley Woke who was until his latest promotion, CSP and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Ubakala Police Division in Umuahia South LGA, thanked the IGP, Abia CP and officers and men of the State Command for the promotion.
He promised not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in them.
