The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, on Wednesday, emerged as the governorship candidate of the PDP, for Imo gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023.
Anyanwu’s emergence was announced by the chairman of the seven-man panel of the election led by Kenneth Okon, at the venue of the primary, the state secretariat of the PDP at Okigwe Road, Owerri.
According to Okon, “Anyanwu who is the sole aspirant for the election polled 802 votes which had 915 members as accredited delegates.”
Reacting, Senator Anyanwu, said: “I appreciate Emeka Ihedioha for his sacrifice, his sacrifice for the party will never be forgotten, I urge the party to continue to remain united, I promise we’re going into the election to win, and I assure you we would win.
“People of Imo who have been subjected to several inhuman treatments should look up to PDP, they can’t wait to usher in a purposeful leader that will salvage them from insecurity, today marks the beginning of the journey.”
Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Charles Ugwu, while congratulating Anyanwu on his victory said: “I am glad the processes for the election were all duly followed.”
Just as the State Organising Secretary of the PDP, Lawrence Biaduo, said: “The seven-man electoral panel constituted by the National Working Committee headed by Kenneth Okon was present to monitor the primary in Imo.”
