Following the poor state of infrastructure at the NYSC Orientation camp in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, an Enugu born Estate Surveyor and Philanthropist, Chibuzor Adinde, has donated the sum of N500,000 to management of the camp.

Adinde made the donation after a brief tour of the dilapidated camp with Mrs Gladys Adama, the NYSC State Coordinator

Adinde said he was dumb founded and surprised at the level of decay of infrastructure at state orientation camp.

He immediately made the donation to NYSC to help savage the situation on ground.

Responding, the state coordinator described the camp as the worst orientation camp in Nigeria, adding that the camp was horrible for human habitation.

According to her, the state was losing corps members who could have served as teachers, doctors among others and contribute to the economic development of the state.

She said: “Because of the irritating and decaying state of the infrastructure at the camp, many corps members posted to serve here will seek for redeployment and there is nothing we can do than to allow them.

“Enugu State government and other well meaning individuals in the state should come to our aid because the camp is their own as these corps members will contribute to the growth of the state.”

Adama said that the camp was established by Major General Yakubu Gowon way back in 1973.

The coordinator said she hailed from Benue “hence Enugu is my second home.”

Adama further stated that NYSC produces a commensurate Enugu state work force and needed to be catered for.

“The camp among others is the only camp in Nigeria without a parade ground, hospitable hostels, zero road network with a stony walk way, dilapidated building like hostels among other ill facilities,” she said.

About1285 corps members were sworn-in during the exercise.
