Whistleblower and member of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nnamdi Daniel Emeh, who was alleged to have stolen N47m, has been remanded in Awka Correctional Centre, Anambra State.

It was gathered that he is facing 16-count charge in court, including fraud, defamation of character, impersonation.

Emeh, a serving corps member was working as an IT consultant to Anambra State Police Command, and was attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu.

Emeh’s initial arrest was said to be ostensibly for blowing the whistle on a case under investigation by the Force Headquarters in which top police officers in Anambra State Police Command were alleged to be involved in human organ trafficking, kidnapping and killing of suspects after extorting them.

Emeh was declared wanted for impersonation, where he claimed to be a police officer with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police. He was also accused of money laundering and and illegal possession of arms.

The Police had said Emeh, who was recently declared wanted, stole a whopping N47m from a suspect’s account.

The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga had said: “The command on 20th February, 2023 declared one Emeh Nnamdi Daniel, 26years old wanted a youth corp member serving in the police command, on allegations of unlawful possession of firearms, money laundering, and defamation of character, fraud and impersonation.

“We also want to use this opportunity to let you know the suspect is in custody. The suspect, Nnamdi Emeh fled the country to Benin Republic before he was arrested by INTERPOL operatives.”

Ikengaonline had reported that Police in Anambra State had been accused of trying to cover up  its officers and divert attention of the public from their alleged unethical activities in the state by bringing up strange charges on the whistleblower.
