Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
The streets of Umuahia, the Abia State capital were empty Tuesday morning as residents remained indoors in compliance with the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to mark Biafran Day anniversary.
May 30 every year has always been used to commemorate fallen Biafra heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of the Biafra Republic during the civil war up till the current struggle for restoration of the Republic.
Some street shops were under lock and key in the morning while human and vehicular movements were not as frequent as they used to be.
The city was generally peaceful but residents were being careful to avoid falling victim of the wrath of the enforcers of the sit-at-home order.
