The House of Representatives has told the Federal Government to honour its agreement with the organised labour that made the union leaders shelve their planned nationwide strike over removal of fuel subsidy.
According to the House of Representatives, it will amount to breach of trust for the Federal Government to renege from fulfilling its promises to labour before the strike was put off.
This is as the green chamber commended the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for suspending its proposed strike action originally billed for Wednesday.
The commendation was due to a motion by Hon. Idem Unyime at the plenary session.
The law makers expressed optimism that the Federal Government and labour would, in the days ahead, resolve the grey areas to have a permanent solution to fuel subsidy challenges.
The House which acknowledged the huge expenditure on subsidy, urged the Federal Government to ensure that the money was channeled to other developmental projects.
It urged the Federal Government to quickly roll out palliative measures to cushion the effects of the rise in petrol pump price.
