President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has constituted a 68-member Presidential Advisory Council (PAC) comprising accomplished Igbo sons and daughters.
Chief Iwuanyanwu who constituted the Council Friday at the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze held in Enugu, also said that the statutory standing committees of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo would soon be constituted.
A release by the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, said that Chief Iwuanyanwu had demonstrated enormous zeal and commitment in repositioning Ohanaeze since he came on board, adding that the era of Ndigbo working at cross purposes is over.
Iwuanyanwu, according to the statement, vowed to “continue to advance Igbo cause in Nigeria through the involvement and engagement of the best Igbo brains and hands in reclaiming the pride of place for the Igbo in Nigeria.”
Chief Iwuanyanwu re-echoed his inaugural speech which touched on programmes that would transform the Igbo territory into an economic hub capable of attracting businesses from all parts of the world.
His policy framework spans “the reactivation of cement industry at Nkalagu, reactivation of coal industry at Enugu; power, agriculture, health, transportation, security, investment development corporation, education, sports, culture, tourism, etc.”
According to the Ohanaeze PG, what has held the Igbo down is the inability to harness the abundant resources and the enormous potentials that the Almighty has endowed in us.
He said that “with the unity of purpose, the Igbo land will be a tourist destination that posts wealth creation and prosperity.”
Chief Iwuanyanwu who submitted that collective efforts are needed in order to actualize his vision for a new Igbo land, enjoined Ndigbo to unite behind their leaders.
He explained that the presidential advisory council would help him pursue his vision for the transformation of Igbo land.
