Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has approved the immediate recruitment of over 195 medical personal for the 13 general hospitals in the state.
The governor stated this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, on Sunday.
He listed the categories of personnel to be recruited to include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and health attendants.
The statement reads: “Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has approved immediate recruitment of medical personnel for the thirteen General Hospitals in the State.”
He stated that the recruitment involves 39 doctors; 39 nurses; 39 laboratory scientists; 39 pharmacists; and 39 health attendants.
Nwifuru directed the Head of Service and Chairman Civil Service Commission to urgently commence the process of recruiting suitably qualified medical personnel to fill the existing vacancies.
Meanwhile,the governor has directed that a verification exercise be carried out for staff of local governments in the state.
A statement by Mr Uzor said the Governor has to this end constituted a Local Government Staff Verification Committee.
They committee is to be chaired by Mrs Catherine Ogbu while Prof Adline Idike will serve as Secretary.
The Head of Service, State Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers, Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Education and Prof Humphrey Nwobashi are members of the committee.
The committee will screen and identify genuine Staff of the Local Government System from June 14 to June 30, 2023 at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium.
The statement directed all staff to come along with relevant credentials, birth certificates, letter of first appointment, last Gen 35 and valid means of identification.

“Heads of Personnel Management and Treasures should lead staff of their respective Local Government Areas to the exercise, and Junior Principals in the case of Junior Secondary Schools,” the statement added.
