Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Member representing Aba South state constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa of Labour Party, has emerged the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.
Hon. Austin Mmeregini representing Umuahia East, also of the Labour Party was elected the Deputy Speaker.
Labour Party has 10 out of the 24 members of the Assembly while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has a slim majority of 11.
Young Peoples Party, YPP, has two members while the All Progressives Congress, APC, has one.
Gov. Alex Otti was present during the election conducted by the Clerk, John Pedro Irokansi, on the floor of the House.
