Former President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachawa, has dissociated self from the claims by her husband, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, that he was influencing the decisions of the wife on matters involving his colleagues while she was in judiciary service.
The retired Justice who spoke in an interview with BBC Hausa, said she never compromised in any judgment she delivered in her 40 years in the judiciary.
Ikengaonline had reported that her husband, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented Bauchi North in the 9th Senate, had during the valedictory session of the Senate, claimed that he encroached into her wife’s rights and influenced her decisions in favour of his colleagues.
“And she has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues,” Senator Bulkachuwa confessed in the controversial revelation.
So many people including legal luminary, Olisa Agbakoba; and former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, have all called for his arrest and full investigation into the matter.
Justice Bulkachuwa said she never compromised her oath of office in 40 years in service, claiming that she based her judgements on facts.
“My attention has been drawn to the trending video of what was said by my husband Senator Adamu M. Bulkachuwa.
“I want to state categorically that I never at any time compromised my oath of office to favour any party who appeared before me throughout my judicial career spanning 40 years of service to my country.
“My decisions were always based on the facts, the law and in accordance with my conscience and oath of office.”
