A young Igbo lady from Oko in Anambra State, Ifeoma Amuche, has emerged the best-graduating student at South West University, Chongqing, China.
Amuche who disclosed this via her Twitter handle, said she finished top among over 9,500 students.
Following her superlative performance and academic excellence, she was chosen on behalf of all the international students, to make a speech at the graduation ceremony of the university.
“Out of 9500+ graduates, I was the only international student selected to give a speech on behalf of all graduates, I’m so honoured. I’m here for Nigeria, I’m here for my hometown Oko,” she tweeted.
Meanwhile, her impressive academic record has been commended by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) which said that “Nigerians bear marks of success around the globe.
The agency in a swift response posted on its page: “Nigerian Student Ifeoma Amuche emerges best graduating student in South West University, China. Hear her deliver a speech on behalf of international students. Nigerians bear the mark of success anywhere! We are Nigerians and we are Champions.”
Also, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has joined in praising Ms Amuche’s academic feat saying it takes tremendous hard-work to gain such accomplishment.
Obi said this via his Twitter handle when he wrote: “I congratulate Miss Ifeoma Amuche, a Nigerian student who recently emerged as Best Graduating Student at South West University, China. It takes immeasurable hard work and dedication to achieve such an academic feat, and stand out from the crowd.
“You have, by your outstanding academic results, brought honour to our nation and established yourself on the global stage. As a firm believer in education, I know there are no limits to how far one can go, by taking their education seriously.
“Every Nigerian youth will be able to attain their full potentials if we make the right investments in education. Your outstanding achievement shows clearly that we must spare no effort in the education of the girl child knowing that excellence is no respecter of gender.
“I urge you to remain hardworking, of good character, and focused on building a more productive and impactful life. Keep the flag flying. -PO”
