Anambra State Government has rescued a pregnant woman identified as Nebechi Achu after she was beaten to stupor by her partner.
Ikengaonline gathered that Achu who hails from Isuofia was cohabiting with her lover identified as Chukwuemerie Anunobi, a native of Aguluezechukwu both in Aguata Local Government Area of the state when the incident happened.
A viral video on different social media platforms showed the woman struggling for her life after the severe beatings, a situation that attracted the intervention of the State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
The Ministry facilitated the arrest of the culprit but after a passionate appeal from the woman, the Commissioner, Ify Obinabo, decided to give the man a second chance on very stringent conditions.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Nebechi and Chukwuemerie are only cohabiting and not yet married.
The Commissioner warned the man never to beat the woman again. She went further to reunite them, mandating the man to either leave the woman or marry her properly as cohabiting is not permitted.
