Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri
The Imo State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, on Sunday, said Governor Hope Uzodimma wanted Imo workers to vote for his re-election by increasing their minimum wage to N40,000.
Anyanwu, spoke to newsmen in Owerri, regarding the Uzodimma N40,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
The PDP governorship candidate said “election is five months from here now. All this while the Imo workers, pensioners have been crying, the governor did not look at them. But now that he has seen that the hand of the clock is swinging against him. He is using the N40,000 salary to lure the workers for the purpose of election.
“As if he has sympathy for them but it is too late. One thing is to give people money and another thing is to protect someones life.”
“Somebody who is incapable of securing a state, from being overrun by insecurity how much will you give to such individual that will please them if their lives cannot be guaranteed? You can see the increase of salary is neither here nor there.
“It is just an exercise in futility. It will not make any impact. The issue is that the people of the state have totally rejected Hope Uzodimma. And they are no longer having confidence in his administration. He is looking for a way to attract them and secure their confidence ahead of the election,” the PDP candidate said.
