As Nigerians have continued to celebrate Eko hotel staff, Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, for returning $70,000 misplaced by a customer, Afrobeat superstar, David Adeleke, a.k.a Davido, has gifted her $10,000 for her exemplary action.
The music legend in a tweet via his Twitter handle had request anyone with information on how to reach Mary to volunteer same to him.
“Find her for me … I donate $10k,” Davido tweeted.
Meanwhile Mary was captured in a viral video, pouring encomiums on Davido for the uncommon gesture.
She heartily commended the music legend for gifting her with such a whopping sum, saying she is overwhelmed.
Mary prayed that the singer would continue to shine and move forward.
Recall that Davido had in a separate video said of how he’s spending over N200 million on orphanages across the country.
Davido revealed that he had always used his platform to serve others, and that he was delighted in such humanitarian services.
According to him, his foundation, David Adeleke Foundation, has spent N237 million on the down trodden.
Davido who disclosed that the culture of giving back to the less privileged started a few years ago on his birthday, appreciated all those who made donations, declaring that “people rise by lifting others.”
“I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so. We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday.
“Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives. This is what I mean when I say ‘We rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all.”
